Suburban Prairie Cat

Dead of night, outside for a smoke
Half cut, my senses are broke
But I see you; in the shadows

Black on black, blend to the dark
Streetlight catches, crouching shark
I see you, suburban prairie cat

Silhouette; gives you away
Prey lives, for another day
But I know, you’ll be back

Stub it out, I hold my head
The end is nigh, time for bed
We’ll meet again, tomorrow

Too Dark to See

If you can still smile at the world
When the world is not smiling at you
When dark smoke billows, and the clouds close in
The orchard of life is grey and barren
Time stands still, you must search from within

You’re approaching the crossroads
But the view is so hazy
There’s lack of direction, confusion sets in
No compass to guide you, no hand reaching for you
So follow your instincts, and your search will begin

With hands that are shaking, you grasp at the future
Difficult to grip, a story yet told
An unknown horizon, a new time is dawning
You look over your shoulder
Down the river you’re sold

Away from the chaos, the clutter, the madness
You return to the point, where no one else can find
The feelings, emotions, beliefs and your values
By closing your eyes, you have opened your mind

That Feeling

The sun shines brighter
The rain takes on a mystical, romantic quality
Your pulse quickens in anticipation
Yet you’re relaxed at the same time
But tense

Minutes seem like hours
And hours seem like days
But when you meet
Time disappears entirely

Surroundings blur
There’s just a single point of focus
Yet I can drift away in the sea of your eyes
While you whisper sweet nothings
About your day

Dreaming
Seeing it happen in your mind’s eye
Distracted from where I am
Because there’s a better place

As frustrating as it is lovely
It plays with your mind
It can make you sigh
Holding your head in your hands
While you search for the answer

Lost Feather
